Entrepreneurship is an incredibly competitive field, and there are a number of factors that come into play when determining success. These factors can be anywhere from the timing of the launch of the business to the reliability of the supply chain, as well as the current economic climate. Not only that, but there are also a good amount of personality traits that come into play. Below are some of the essential personality traits that a good entrepreneur should possess.

Discipline

Naturally, a good entrepreneur should be disciplined, as they’re in charge of operating an entire business. You have to have the know-how and the ability to keep yourself accountable when you are your own boss. People with a good amount of discipline are able to create and execute thought-out plans without having to rely on external motivators to give them that extra competitive edge.

Creativity

When you first think about the word creativity, you may think of Van Gogh or Michelangelo. However, creativity is an essential aspect of entrepreneurship. Creativity doesn’t necessarily align with the visual aspects that you may associate with it. Creativity means that you have the know-how to not get stuck when difficult problems arise. It simply means that you can pivot your line of thinking quickly and implement creative but necessary solutions to solve your problems.

Resourcefulness

When you’re an entrepreneur, you’re most likely going to be thrown into a number of different challenges that you’ve never dealt with before. This is where an entrepreneur’s resourcefulness is going to be vital. Resourcefulness allows an entrepreneur to problem-solve difficult issues that they may come across and not be afraid to look things up. You’re not going to have all of the solutions to the problems that you’re going to face, and the way to combat that is the ability to use your creativity to manage your business in the best way possible.

You may be surprised to see empathy on this list- however, empathy is an essential part of being an entrepreneur. The ability to connect with people on an incredibly genuine level is one of the most important parts of being an entrepreneur, whether you’re working by yourself or with a group of people. Good entrepreneurs can put themselves in others’ shoes, whether that’s your employees or your customers. This can be anything from anticipating what your customers may need or understanding and encouraging your team members to take some time off when needed.
